Thinking, Fast and Slow (Hörbuch-Download): Amazon.de: Daniel Kahneman, Patrick Egan, Random House Audio: Audible Audiobooks The Thinking, Fast and Slow were suggested by a friend while we were discussing around psychology, making choices, decision making etc So little I knew back then when I incautiously ordered the book among some other reads.The amount of knowledge, experience and wisdom delivered in this book is absolutely amazing I truly understand why the book is The International Bestseller Reading the book were somewhat slow process Process indeed Not because of the text in itself, this is easy and nicely written book to read The problem for me were the book is in fact so well written that it opened me to evaluate my own decision making process and reasoning, my own behaviour and why I make decisions I make Or what are the reasons behind certain behavioural patterns I just had to stop every now and then just to let the mind trick to happen.The book lays down the strong concept of What You See Is All There Is, WYSIATI, behind our decisions I won t go further than this so that the book can speak to you as it did to me However this concept has been bubbling disturbingly loud in the back of my head since This is clearly a part of my personal Why I do want to know, learn , to be able to make at least somewhat educated decisions and be able to understand at least lightly certain behavioural patterns To see and to be able to understand there is even out there, even perspectives Once the process goes on the mind may find out there is something outside of my cozy, comfortable box and also think outside of the box. Da gibt es wirklich viel wichtiges Priming, Framing usw Dass wir die Vergangenheit in eine koh rente Geschichte mit roten Faden verwandeln, der rote Faden allerdings fehlt uns pl tzlich, wenn wir in die Zukunft sehen Anm unseren Vorfahren werfen wir es ja vor, dass sie nicht gesehen haben, was f r uns heute doch so offensichtlich war Das mit dem Priming war mir allerdings etwas unglaubw rdig Wenn man zuvor irgendwo ein gro e Zahl gesehen hat, ist man bereit mehr zu bezahlen, h her zu wetten Nachdem die Begriffe Priming und Framing es jetzt auch langsam ins Feuilleton der Qualit tspresse geschafft haben, wollte ich das Buch noch einmal zur Hand nehmen und da offenbaren sich wieder die Schw chen, die mich einst veranlasst hatten es vor dem Ende weg zu legen Es ist langatmig, es ergeht sich in Anekdoten, es gibt keine Gliederung in Kapiteln Wenn man etwas nachlesen will, ist man auf dass Stichwortverzeichnis angewiesen.Zumindest ist es aber so gut, dass ich es noch einmal zur Hand nehme auszugsweise Why do people buy extended warranties that are bad value for money Why do we marry people just because they re good in bed Why do investors snatch small profits from winning investments whilst allowing large losses to build up in bad investments Why do parents deny their children life saving vaccinations for fear of unproven risks Why do we think a bird in the hand is worth two in a bush On the whole humans are incredibly good at making bad decisions because they allow emotions and moral values to prevail over good sense and simple mathematical calculation We make snap decisions based on our intuition fast thinking and often believe our intuition is superior to logic slow thinking For example, President Trump recently said he preferred to listen to his gut than his advisors.Kahneman examines the reasons why we make bad decisions and indicates ways in which we might make better decisions even if the better decisions make us feel uncomfortable because they are counterintuitive.My only problem with this book is that it is so laborious in places that I almost lost interest Sometimes Kahneman goes on and on about a proposition that has at least for me zero interest If he asks How much would you pay for a bowl of roses valued at 59 I don t have an answer because I m simply not interested and I don t want to know how much anyone else would pay, or why they would or wouldn t pay it Perhaps it s just me, but I found some of the propositions too complex to bother with But to be fair there were some chapters that had me spellbound maybe because they touched on areas where I make bad decisions.Overall, this is an important book but spoiled by too much dense argument and irrelevant illustration It could have contained all the salient points and been reduced to half the length without any dilution of the message. Don t go with this product The size of the letters are so small that, I bet, you can t read a page comfortably I m not saying anything about the content of the book The paper quality of the book especially, the size of letters, is so poor that u will regret buying this book Now it s ur choice. Certainly the most thought provoking book I ve read in a long time, so much so I ve written a blog about it s conclusion and the impact on social media More importantly how people are being manipulated on social media by people using the techniques outline in this book.It s not an easy book to read so not one for the beach, but push through and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This is so far the most original work I have read Daniel takes behavior psychology to another level with strong data and references It s a must read for everyone who believes in improving the habits relating to your sub conscious thinking A Nobel laureate of true genius. When I ordered this I was hoping for something slightly different I thought it would be similar to other self help books that people recommend in that you gain lots of strategies to use in the real world However, it was quite in depth and fairly heavy going for me personally.On a positive note, the author is an incredibly smart guy and it s a great body of work that he s created, and the overarching concept of the book differences between system 1 and 2 is a concept that everyone should know about.3.5 stars for me
